Ferris State Men's Basketball Dominates Northwood In Season-Opening Win

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's basketball squad started the season fast as the Bulldogs opened the 2023-24 campaign with an impressive 94-59 regional win over Northwood in Painesville, Ohio.

Ferris State opened the regional crossover event hosted by Lake Erie with a dominating performance, building a 48-23 halftime margin before outscoring the Timberwolves 46-36 the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs got a game-high 21 points from graduate senior transfer DeSean Munson to go with 16 points by fellow grad transfer and former Northwood standout Jack Ammerman in the win. Senior Ben Davidson added 12 points while scoring his 1,000th career point for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State shot 56.9% from the floor and went 11-of-19 (57.9%) from long range along with nine-of-14 (64.3%) at the free throw line. FSU also won the rebounding battle 37-30 and had only nine turnovers compared to NU's 16 miscues.

The Bulldogs held the Timberwolves to only 40.4% shooting with NU finishing five-of-14 (35.7%) from the three-point line and eight-of-13 (61.5%) at the free throw stripe.

Northwood was led by Collin Albert with 19 points and Richard Lowe with 13 points in the game.

Ferris State will take on host Lake Erie in the weekend finale of the regional crossover on Saturday (Nov. 11) starting at 6 p.m. (ET) in Ohio.
