RECAP: Wayne State starts fast and finishes strong in 89-66 win over Northwood Thursday night (January 26).

FIRST HALF

  • The opening half featured big runs for both teams, starting with a push from Wayne State.
  • The Warriors scored on their first possession of the game and eventually led 15-1 just over five minutes into the game.
  • Northwood responded with a big run of their own, scoring 12 of the next 14 points to make the score 17-13.
  • The Timberwolves eventually came all the way back to lead 27-25 with under five minutes to go in the half.
  • WSU eventually led 37-34 at the break.
  • The shooting for the two teams was very similar - Northwood shot 41.9 percent from the floor (13-31) compared to Wayne State at 40.6 percent (13-32). The Timberwolves connected on five 3-pointers in half to three for WSU, while the Warriors made five more free throws than NU (8-3).

SECOND HALF

  • After a competitive start to the second half, the Warriors broke the game open.
