Men's Golf Earns Third Place Finish At The GLIAC Championship

NASHPORT, OHIO – The Northwood University men's golf team placed third out of 15 teams at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship Sunday afternoon (April 17).

NU's third-place finish is the highest for the Timberwolves since 2002-03, when Northwood claimed the GLIAC title.

The three-day, 54-hole event was held at the Virtues Golf Club. The course played as a 7,243 yard, par 72.

Northwood shot team scores of 304-306-299 to finish at 909 overall. Tiffin was the overall winner at 892 (298-299-295), one stroke ahead of Grand Valley State at 893 (307-296-290).

The Timberwolves placed three players in the top-20 of the 74-player field. Kory Roberts (Battle Creek, Mich./G.R.C.C) tied for seventh overall at 224 thanks to shooting rounds of 76-74-74. Paul Ostby (Mt. Morris, Mich./Mott CC) carded rounds of 75-76-74 to tie for 10th at 225. Matt Benson (Grand Ledge, Mich.) was 20th overall at 228 (73-80-75).

Northwood, which entered the event ranked fifth in the Midwest Region, will compete at the NCAA Super Regionals May 2-4 at Grand Valley State.
