INSIDE THE GAME

  • Sixteen minutes into the contest, James Vaughan sent a cross from the right side of a soaking pitch and found Zachary Bakos who headed it in for the first goal of the match.
  • About eight minutes later, Bakos was around the net yet again looking for an opportunity to extend the lead. Off of a corner kick by Vaughan, there was a rebound that came loose to the right of the keeper. Bakos put it home for his second goal of the game.
  • The Timberwolves took total control of the game 4:48 into the second on the back of Bakos' third goal of the contest. Similar to how he netted his second, the ball came loose for him off of a failed clear moments after Vaughan's corner kick. From the left side this time, he put the game out of reach.
  • The best save of the game came from back-up netminder Brandon Brundirks. Just after he relieved Brendan Brown, a rebound deflected off of his leg to the outside of the right side box. Moving to his left, he dove to nab the ball out of the air on a shot from about 40 feet from his net to preserve the shutout.
