RECAP: Davenport's three-goal second half stuns Northwood in GLIAC Semifinal Friday afternoon (November 3).

INSIDE THE GAME

  • Nino Evola looked to capitalize on a Davenport giveaway in the first minute. Speeding down the right sideline, he was able to get a shot off from the right side near the box. The Panthers goaltender came out to challenge and was able to turn away the chance however, keeping the game scoreless early on.
  • The Timberwolves would strike first minutes after Evola's chance. On a free kick from the right side, James Vaughan put a good ball into the box on the far side. Connor Cole directed the ball into the middle and Zachary Bakos was there to bury the loose ball past the Davenport goaltender to put the Northwood on top just over eight minutes in.
  • Nearly five minutes into the second half, it was Evola again just missing a glorious scoring opportunity. From the left side, his strike that he aimed for the far side post just missed the upright and the advantage stayed at one for Northwood.
  • Catching a wave of momentum in the final 21 minutes of the second stanza, Davenport finally broke through for their first goal in the 69th minute. Aided by a header pass from midfield, the Panthers were able to convert on a strike from the right side that found twine in the upper right corner of the net.
  • In a flash, the Panthers took the lead. On a pass from the goal line, Davenport buried a one-timer from in close to go ahead 2-1 four minutes after they tied the game. The Panthers would add one more with seven minutes left to make it 3-1 and put the game out of reach.
