MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Friday night (April 29) with a 5-3 win over Tiffin.

The win for the Timberwolves avenges a 5-4 loss to the Dragons earlier this season in Ohio.

Northwood is now 10-8 overall with the victory. Tiffin falls to 14-12 with the loss.

Just like in the previous meeting between earlier this season, the team that led after doubles eventually lost the contest. The Dragons earned matching 8-3 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to jump out to a 2-0 lead. Northwood responded with an 8-6 victory at the No. 1 position thanks to the duo of Sebastian Eguez and Austin Woody.

Unlike the last meeting, Northwood was the better team in singles. NU picked up four wins in the five matches completed, three of which were in straight-sets. Woody closed out the win for the Timberwolves with a three-set victory at the No. 2 position.

On the day, Eguez and Woody went 2-0 to lead the way for Northwood.

Northwood will take on top-seeded Ferris State in the GLIAC Semifinals Saturday (April 30). First serve is set for 3:45 p.m.
