Rami Gharsalli Named USTFCCCA Division II Scholar Athlete of the Year

MIDLAND, MICH. – Rami Gharsalli of the Northwood University Track & Field team has been named a Male Scholar Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Gharsalli joins Corey Reid of Azusa Pacific, David Ribich of Western Oregon, and Florian Obst of Texas A&M Commerce as the scholar athletes in Division II Indoor and Outdoor Track. The award was selected out of the 301 male athletes who earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors this season.

Scholar Athletes of the Year were selected as the highest finishing performers at the NCAA Division II Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships who achieved All-Academic status. Those who won individual championship titles ranked higher in the tie-breaking process and cumulative GPA is weighed as the final advantage.

The impressive accolade adds to an already decorated career for Gharsalli at Northwood that includes being named an All-American in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, as well as a GLIAC Champion in the men's 60 meter hurdles and men's 110 meter hurdles.
