NCAA T&F DAY 3: Phillips, 4x100 Relay Earn All-American Honors

NCAA DIVISION II OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS – DAY 3

4X100 RELAY CLAIMS HARDWARE

The 4x100 meter relay of sophomores Austin Hamlet and Mason Phillips, senior Rami Gharsalli, and freshman Andrew Davis were named First-Team All-Americans. They placed seventh in 45.40 seconds - Gharsalli ran the third leg of the relay with an injury.

This is the second year Northwood had a 4x100 relay earn All-America honors. Phillips, Gharsalli and Hamlet are both returners from last year's NCAA relay.

Gharsalli will conclude his collegiate career a six-time All-American in both the indoor and outdoor seasons in all six NCAA appearances. He has earned five First Team honors and one Second Team honor, including a NCAA Runner-Up finish in the 60 meter hurdles in 2017.

This will be Hamlet's second All-America honor, while this is Davis's first.

PHILLIPS ALL-AMERICAN IN 100M

In the 100 meter finals, Phillips placed seventh in 10.53 seconds to earn All-America First Team honors. This is the first All-America honor in the event of his career.

Phillips will leave Kingsville, Texas with three All-American honors from the NCAA Championships - two First Team honors (100m, 4x100) and one Second Team recognition (200m). He is a eight-time All-American through his sophomore season at Northwood, which includes a NCAA Runner-Up performance at 200 meters during the indoor campaign.
