Softball Falls To Wayne State

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University softball team falls in a double header to No. 13 Wayne State on Thursday afternoon (April 14). NU dropped game one 10-1 before losing 11-0 in game two, both contests were cut short to just five innings.

The Timberwolves are now 12-16 on the year, 3-9 in the GLIAC. #13 Wayne State improves to 33-4 overall, 12-0 in the GLIAC.

The Warriors got on the board early, plating three in the first and two in the third for a 5-0 lead. NU plated its only run of the game in the bottom of the third on an Andria Gietl (Plymouth, Mich. / Ladywood) RBI up the middle. WSU ended the game early with five runs on three hits in the fifth for a 10-1 win after five innings.

NU committed three fielding errors and left five runners on base, as four different players registered a hit in the contest. The Warriors finished with 12 hits and just two errors with eight runners stranded on the bases.

Game two wasn't much different as Wayne State scored two in the first, four in the second second and five in the fourth for an 11-0 win. NU registered just two hits and registered three errors in the loss.
