Northwood Softball Drops Pair In Florida

SCORES: Northwood Timberwolves 3, St. Cloud St. Huskies 10; Truman Bulldogs 5, Northwood 4.

RECAP: Northwood dropped a pair of games to close out the Florida trip.
ST. CLOUD STATE/NORTHWOOD HIGHLIGHTS
- St. Cloud St. grabbed command of the contest with four runs in the top of the first inning when the first three hitters reached. After a sac fly, the Huskies received the big hit of the inning from Alyssa Coletto in the form of a three-run homer.
- After adding a run in the third and two in the fourth, St. Cloud St. lead 7-0 when Northwood added two runs in the home half of the fourth inning after RBI singles by Andria Gietl and Abby Joseph scoring Hayley D'Avilar and Jennifer Wontorcik.
- The Timberwolves would get as close as four runs after Northwood came back with a run in the sixth on a Sydni Pauley solo home run, but the Huskies answered with three more in the seventh to cruise to the 10-3 victory.

TRUMAN UNIVERSITY HIGHLIGHTS
- Truman grabbed a 3-0 lead after opening the scoring with a run in the second and two in the third.
- The Timberwolves came right back in the top of the fourth to score two when Sydni Pauley smashed her second home run of the day. The bomb was a two run shot that also scored Riley Ostapowicz who had singled. Northwood trailed 3-2 heading to the home half of the fourth.
- The Bulldogs answered the two-spot posted by Northwood with two of their own on a two RBI double by Ashley Murphy to pull the Bulldogs lead back to three at 5-2.
- Northwood would not go away quietly as the Timberwolves plated a pair in the top of the sixth when Jennifer Wontorcik singled home Riley Ostapowicz and would later score on a wild pitch. Northwood was within one run, 5-4.
- Unfortunately for the Timberwolves, Truman would halt the scoring there, and Northwood couldn't scratch out any more runs and the Bulldogs held on for the 5-4 victory over Northwood.
