Softball Slotted No. 10 In Initial Midwest Regional Rankings
MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood softball team (30-15, 17-7 G-MAC) was listed as No. 10 in the first set of 2024 NCAA DII Midwest Regional Rankings released Wednesday (April 24).
Northwood is one of four Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) teams in the NCAA rankings. Trevecca Nazarene (37-11) came in No. 2, Ohio Dominican (30-10) No. 3, and Hillsdale (32-12) No. 5.
Softball has important doubleheaders this week beginning Thursday (April 25) with regionally ranked No. 8 Saginaw Valley St. beginning at 3 p.m. and No. 5 Hillsdale on Friday (April 26) starting at noon.
64 teams will qualify for this year's NCAA Tournament, with the top eight teams from the Midwest Region earning a berth. Postseason action of the NCAA tournament will begin May 9-11 with the first round on 16 different campuses across the United States.
Four teams will participate at each of the 16 regional sites in a double-elimination tournament. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites.
