Women's Basketball Ranks Eleventh On The WBCA Academic Top-25

ATLANTA, GA. - The Northwood University women's basketball team was placed on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Wednesday (July 19).

This marks the seventh time under Northwood head coach Jeff Curtis that the Timberwolves earned a top-25 academic ranking (2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2013-14, 2015-16, 2016-17).

Northwood had its second-highest team grade point average in the top 25 in program history this year. The Timberwolves ended the year with a 3.664 GPA, which was good for 11th out of over 280 Division II schools. Upper Iowa led D-II with a 3.744 GPA. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) was well represented on the list, as six teams from the conference were honored (Michigan Tech, Ohio Dominican, Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley, Findlay).

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2016-17 season is the 22nd in which the WBCA as compiled the honor rolls.
