Women's Basketball Defeats Purdue Northwest 91-66

RECAP: Northwood connects on a school-record 14 3-pointers in a convincing 91-66 road win over Purdue Northwest Saturday afternoon (January 6).
FIRST QUARTER
- Northwood got their record-breaking 3-point day with the opening basket of the game on a triple by Lindsay Orwat. That gave the Timberwolves a lead they would not give up.
- The Timberwolves scored eight of the first nine points of the game and eventually opened up a 30-15 lead after the opening quarter.
- Northwood shot 55.6 percent overall (10-18) and 50.0 percent from beyond the arc (5-10). Purdue Northwest ended up at 27.8 percent overall (5-18) and 33.3 percent from the foul line (2-6).
SECOND QUARTER
- NU's offense was not as sharp in the second quarter, but the Timberwolves maintained control of the contest.
- Purdue Northwest got no closer than 13 points in the quarter. Northwood led by as many as 24 before standing with a 49-27 advantage at the break.
- Northwood ended up shooting 42.9 percent (6-14) compared to 27.3 percent for Purdue Northwest (3-11). Northwood connected on three 3-pointers compared to one for the Pride.
THIRD QUARTER
- Northwood got the advantage up to 25 early in the third quarter, thanks to inside play.
- After shooting 18 three-pointers in the first half, NU shot just three in the third quarter.
- Northwood ended up with a 66-45 lead heading to the fourth quarter.
- The Timberwolves went 8-15 from the floor in the third (53.3 percent), while Purdue Northwest ended up at 43.8 percent (7-16).
FOURTH QUARTER
- Purdue Northwest hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start the fourth quarter to cut the advantage down to 66-51 with 9:12 remaining.
- Northwood responded to that burst with strong 3-point shooting of their own. The Timberwolves hit five 3-pointers the rest of the way.
- That allowed NU to go up by as many as 30 down the stretch (91-61).
- Northwood finished the fourth quarter at 50.0 percent (10-20) and 45.5 percent from 3-point range (5-11).
- Purdue Northwest also had a good quarter offensively, scoring 21 points thanks to also going 5-11 from the 3-point line (45.5 percent). The Pride ended up at 38.9 percent overall in the quarter (7-18).
