INSIDE THE GAME

  • Northwood was able to draw first blood early on. In the 5th minute, Kassidy Embrey forced a turnover at midfield and lead Ashton Brooks with a pass to the net. Brooks was able to beat the Purdue Northwest goaltender to the ball and buried what would be the first goal of a big half offensively.
  • The Pride were able to answer back quickly in the 8th minute. They were able to force a turnover at midfield and beat the Timberwolves' defense on a pass into the middle of the box. One-on-one with goaltender Julia Luzod, the Pride were able to convert on a shot that went through the legs of the keeper.
  • The game entered a lull until the 32nd minute. Talene Nercesian provided some impressive ball protection on the right sideline and was able to find Brooks with a pass to the top of the box. She calmly turned to her left and bured her second of the day with a shot that found twine on the left side of the net.
  • Brooks capped on the first half the best way she knew how to. Nercesian sped down the right sideline after a swift move to move through the Purdue Northwest defense. She was able to find Brooks who was parked right in the middle of the box. Brooks turned sharply to her right and sped to the right side of the box. With three defenders trailing her, she fired a shot far side to extend Northwood's lead.
