Track and Field Teams Compete At Jim Cole Scottie Open and Jim Duncan Invite

RESULTS: Jim Duncan Invitational – Drake Stadium

 

ALMA, MICH. – The Northwood University track and field teams traveled to multiple meets on Saturday (April 16). NU was represented at the Jim Cole Scottie Open at Alma College. Multiple Timberwolves also traveled to the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake Stadium at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

At the Jim Cole Scottie Open, the women's team finished in sixth place with 32 points. Hope won the meet with 291 total team points. On the men's side, NU finished fifth with 44 points as Hope won the men's side with 207 points.

Madison Arnouts (Grand Ledge, Mich.) won the 400 meter hurdles with a personal best and second best time in school history of 1:02.6, while Drew Findlay (Reese, Mich. / Reese) finished third. Winning the shot and finishing sixth in the hammer throw was Carly D'Almeida (Harrison Township, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse / Macomb CC) with a shot of 11.45 meters and hammer throw of 33.92 meters. Will Moench (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) ran 9:57.85 in the steeplechase to finish second. Ben Quella (Fenton, Mich. / Hartland) and Exhildi Prekaj (Walled Lake, Mich. / Central) also finished second. Quella in the javelin with a throw of 44.42 meters and Prekaj earned the second best mark in school history at 14.9 meters in the shot put. John King (Mesick, Mich.) ran 51.23 in the 400 meter dash to finish second.

At the Jim Duncan Invitational, Paul Evans (Lenox, Mich. / New Haven) won the hammer throw and discus throw with NCAA provisional qualifying marks of 56.73 meters in the hammer and 50.14 meters in the discus. Jordan Fields (Lauderhill, Fla. / Blanche Ely) finished second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.15. The 4x100 meter relay team of Rayvaun Tyler (Orlando, Fla. / Oak Ridge), Josh Gardner (Howell, Mich.), Karmine Jarmon (Chicago, Ill. / Simeon) and Fields finished second with a time of 41.73.

On the women's side, Elaina Meadows (Schoolcraft, Mich.) finished third in the long jump. Her of 5.56 meters is just shy of a 5.76 NCAA provisional qualifying mark. Meadows also finished third in the 200 meter dash at 26.02, behind Kara Young (Zephyrhills, Fla. / Zephyrhills) at 25.9 for second. Young also finished third in the 100 meter dash, clocking 12.57. Hunter Perry (Moran, Mich. / Rudyard) finished fourth in the discus at 42.94 meters and hammer throw at 42.72 meters.

The track and field teams will travel to Allendale, Mich. for the Al Owen's Invite next weekend (April 22-23).
