Track and Field Teams Travel To GVSU's Al Owen's Invite

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Northwood University track and field teams traveled the Al Owens Classic at Grand Valley State University on Friday and Saturday (April 22-23).

For the second week in a row, Madison Arnouts (Grand Ledge, Mich.) won the 400 meter hurdles with another personal best and second best time in school history of 1:01.83. This time is also an NCAA provisional qualifying time. Elaina Meadows (Schoolcraft, Mich.) also posted a provo mark and won the long jump with a jump of 5.87 meters. In addition, Meadows broke her own school record of 5.69 meters, set earlier this season. Meadows also finished eighth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.38. Kara Young (Zephyrhills, Fla. / Zephyrhills) ran a personal best 12.23 in the 100 meter dash prelims before running 12.46 to finish fifth.

The relay team of Young, Drew Findlay (Reese, Mich. / Reese), Dana Turner (Maywood, Ill. / Walther Lutheran) and Meadows finished seventh with a time of 48.78 in the 4x100 meter relay. Arnouts, Young, Jennifer McKenna and Findlay ran 4:00.93 in the 4x400 meter relay to finish ninth.

On the men's side, Jordan Fields (Lauderhill, Fla. / Blanche Ely) finished second in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.58, just shy of the 14.50 NCAA provisional qualifying time. Paul Evans (Lenox, Mich. / New Haven) finished fourth in the discus with a mark of 49.76, while Josh Gardner (Howell, Mich.) took sixth in the 200 meter dash at 22.36.

The relay team of Rayvaun Tyler (Orlando, Fla. / Oak Ridge), Gardner, Karmine Jarmon (Chicago, Ill. / Simeon) and Fields finished third with a time of 41.71 in the 4x100 meter relay. Fields, Jarmon, Grant Harris (Sebewaing, Mich. / Unionville-Sebewaing Area) andJohn King (Mesick, Mich.) ran 3:23.23 in the 4x400 meter relay to finish sixth.

The Timberwolves travel to the Gina Relays at Hillsdale College next weekend (April 28-30).
