Track and Field Teams Travel To 50th Annual Hillsdale College "GINA" Relays

HILLSDALE, MICH. – The Northwood University track and field teams traveled to Hillsdale College for the 50th Annual "GINA" Relays.

The overall meet consisted of schools from all NCAA Divisions, including multiple GLIAC schools.

Senior Jeremy Wilchcombe (Freeport, Bahamas / St. Georges (NU-TX)) was the triple jump champion with a mark of 14.29 meters. Will Moench (Holland, Mich. / West Ottawa) finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:57.01, while Paul Evans (Lenox, Mich. / New Haven) took third in the discus with a throw of 49.44 meters. Evans also placed seventh in the hammer throw at 51.71 meters with Cody Patterson (Wolverine Lake, Mich. / Walled Lake Central) following close behind at 48.75 meters for ninth. Jordan Fields (Lauderhill, Fla. / Blanche Ely) ran 14.87 in the 110 hurdles for fifth and fourth best time in school history. Kyle Vandersyde (Hopkins, Mich.) finished ninth at 15.47 in the same event. Finishing in sixth place were Tyler Jensen (Ovid, Mich. / Ovid-Elsie) in the 5,000 and Dylan Pankov (Marysville, Mich. / Marysville) in the 400 meter hurdles. The men's 4x100 meter relay team of Rayvaun Tyler(Orlando, Fla. / Oak Ridge), Josh Gardner (Howell, Mich.), Karmine Jarmon (Chicago, Ill. / Simeon) and Fields ran 41.82 to finish second.

On the women's side, Elaina Meadows (Schoolcraft, Mich.) finished third with a long jump of 5.71 meters. Hunter Perry (Moran, Mich. / Rudyard) threw the discus 41.74 meters to place sixth, while Kara Young (Zephyrhills, Fla. / Zephyrhills) took sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.49. Young also finished seventh at 25.42 in the 200 meter dash. Finishing tenth with the fourth best jump in school history was Heaven Powell (Port Huron, Mich. / Port Huron) at 1.54 meters in the high jump.
