Volleyball Splits Pair On Final Day Of Warrior Invitational

OVERVIEW – SETON HILL

RECAP: Northwood extended its winning streak to five matches with a 3-0 sweep over Seton Hill at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wayne State.

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • As they have frequently during their winning streak, Northwood came out strong, hitting .375 (18-3-40) in the first set to cruise to an easy 25-13 win. NU trailed 7-5 early before scoring 15 of the next 19 points.
  • The second set was close throughout – neither team led by more than four points. The key stretch came with NU leading 19-18. The Timberwolves scored four of the next five points to get the advantage up to 23-19. Seton Hill got back within one but never tied the score down the stretch to give the Timberwolves a 2-0 advantage.

RECAP: Northwood saw its five-match winning streak come to an end with a 3-1 loss to Wayne State to conclude the Wayne State Invitational

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • Wayne State broke open a close opening set with a late run. The score was tied 15-15 when the Warriors claimed 10 of the final 15 points to earn a 1-0 advantage.
  • The Timberwolves trailed the in second set 11-8 before a run. Northwood scored 11 of the next 15 points to take a 19-15 lead. NU eventually led 24-18 before closing out a 25-21 win to level the match at one set apiece.
  • The key run of the third set came with WSU leading 19-16. The Warriors scored five straight points to take control to go up 2-1
  • WSU used the momentum they gained at the end of the third set to close out the match. Wayne State scored 12 of the first 15 points in the set and did not look back. Northwood. The Timberwolves got no closer than nine points the rest of the way.
