Volleyball Falls In Five Sets At Tiffin

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • Northwood took the opening set that saw both teams make runs. NU opened the match by scoring four of the first five points, but TU responded with five of the next six points to go up 6-5. The Timberwolves eventually took control late and overcame a 5-1 push from the Dragons to win 25-23. Northwood hit .250 (14-5-36) while Tiffin finished at .205 (15-7-39).
  • The stats in the second set for both teams were almost identical – NU hit .250 (14-4-40) while TU ended up at .209 (16-7-43). Northwood earned the advantage early on, scoring nine of the first 12 points.  The Dragons cut the margin down to 22-21 late, but the Timberwolves finished it off 25-22 to go up 2-0.
  • The third set was tight until the Dragons finished well to cut into the Northwood lead. NU led 23-22 late looking to close the match out, but Tiffin scored the final three points to win the third 25-23.  Both offenses played well in the set – NU hit .283 (18-5-46) while TU ended up at .349 (17-2-43).
  • A late push in the fourth set allowed Tiffin to level the match 2-2. Northwood trailed the Dragons 17-15 when Tiffin posted eight of the final 10 points to win 25-17. The Timberwolves offense struggled in the set – hitting .000 (9-9-38) while the Dragon finished at .229 (12-4-35).
  • Tiffin led the final set 9-8 before a huge push from the Dragons gave them the comeback win. TU claimed the final six points of the match to earn the victory.
