RECAP:  Northwood falls to rival Saginaw Valley State in four sets Saturday afternoon (October 29).

INSIDE THE MATCH

  • The first set was close - from the time it was 2-2, there were nine lead changes and eight ties. From the eight tie at 14-14 however, the Cardinals scored 11 of the next 14 points en route to a victory 25-17 win.
  • Set two was all SVSU. From their first point, they never trailed and built their lead up to as large as nine with 13 of the first 17 points. The Timberwolves did cut the lead down to as little as four, but the Cardinals pulled away with 11 of the next 14 point to go up 2-0.
  • Northwood opened up a 5-2 lead early in the third set. Late in the set with the score tied 18-18, Northwood scored seven of the next 11 points to win 25-22 to cut the SVSU lead to 2-1.
  • Northwood did take the first point of the fourth set, but SVSU took control from there. The Cardinals opened up an eight point lead with nine of the next ten points and did not look back from there, winning the final set 25-15 and take the match..
