Northwood Announces 14th Athletic Hall of Fame Class

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the members of the 14th class of the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Kristin Cameron (Women's Track & Field), Kyle Clement (Football), Kevin Fegan (Volleyball Coach), Justin Holyszko (Men's Golf), Jodi Ostergren (Women's Basketball) and the 1991 Volleyball Team join 70 other inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

The 14th annual Hall of Fame ceremony will take place October 12 in the Hach Student Life Center, following the Northwood football game at 1 p.m. The reception for the event will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by the dinner and program at 6 p.m.

Admission to the reception and dinner will be $35. Net proceeds from the event will fund a Northwood Athletic Hall of Fame scholarship in the name of the inductees. The inductees were selected based on their athletic prowess, contributions to the athletic programs, success and character as well as their positive representation of Northwood University

	*KRISTIN CAMERON* Women's Track & Field 2009-12 Kristin Cameron excelled for Northwood both as a thrower and as a student-athlete. She was a five-time All-American for the Timberwolves, earning the honor three times in the hammer throw during the outdoor season and twice in the weight throw indoors. Cameron was an All-GLIAC performer in all eight conference championships she competed in. An excellence student, Cameron was named Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2012 and earned Academic All-GLIAC honors six times. She still holds four school records at Northwood: weight throw (63 feet, 11 inches), indoor shot put (48 feet, 1 3/4 inches), hammer throw (194 feet 3/4 inch) and outdoor shot put (45 feet, 3 3/4 inches). Cameron also ranks fourth in school history in the discus (133 feet, 9 1/2 inches).
	*KYLE CLEMENT* Football 2004-07 Kyle Clement is one of the most dominant defensive lineman in Northwood history. In a career that saw him play both defensive end and defensive tackle, Clement holds the school record for career sacks (25.5) and tackles for loss (50.5). He also holds the Northwood record for tackles for loss in a game with five against Indianapolis in 2006. Clement was named First Team All-GLIAC twice and earned All-Conference honors three times overall in his career. In his career, Northwood went 33-12 overall with a GLIAC Championship and three NCAA Playoff appearances. Following his senior season, Clement was selected to play in the Cactus Bowl, which features the best players in Division II football. He went on to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers after his collegiate career ended.
	*KEVIN FEGAN* Volleyball Coach 1987-96 In his 10 years as head coach, Kevin Fegan led the volleyball team to some of the best results for any program in Northwood history. He averaged 26 wins per season and finished his career with a 264-102 record. His .721 win percentage is the best in program history. In his first six seasons as head coach, Northwood won the NAIA District 23 title. The 1991 team set a school record with 36 wins and finished third at the NAIA National Tournament, which is the best finish for any women's team in school history. He also coached the 1988 team to the second highest win total in program history, finishing the year 34-8. After the program transitioned to Division II in 1993, Fegan led Northwood to a 77-22 record over the final three years of his career. He coached a total of 11 All-Americans in his time as head coach.
	*JUSTIN HOLYSZKO* Men's Golf 2001-05 Justin Holyszko was the best player on some of the finest teams in the history of the Northwood men's golf program. He led the team in scoring average twice and was named All-GLIAC three times, earning First Team honors both in the 2002-03 and the 2003-04 seasons. His 2002-03 season is one of the greatest in school history, finishing the year ranking second in the GLIAC in scoring average. He set a school record for low individual round at the Bay Valley Intercollegiate, shooting a final-round 66 to win the individual title. He went on to be the medalist at the 2002 GLIAC Championship with a three-round total of -2 (72-70-72). That score won the event by 11 shots and led Northwood to the team championship, the first title in school history.
	*JODI OSTERGREN* Women's Basketball 2006-10 Jodi Ostergren finished her career as the best post player in the history of the Northwood women's basketball program. She became just the second player in school history to earn All-America honors at the Division II level after being named Honorable Mention from the WBCA in 2010. A three-time All-GLIAC honoree, Ostergren ranks second in school history with 1,456 points and eighth with 694 rebounds. She holds the school record for free throws made in a career with 460, 23 more than any other player in Northwood history. Ostergren registered two of the top five single season point totals at Northwood. She was a key part of the two teams that had the highest win percentage in school history (2008-09 – .724, 2007-08 – .667) and helped Northwood reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history in 2008-09.
	*1991 VOLLEYBALL TEAM* The 1991 volleyball team had the best finish at a national event for any women's team in school history, placing third at the NAIA Championships. The team set a school record for victories, finishing the season with a 36-10 record. Northwood won their ninth straight NAIA District 23 Championship and went on to defeat Mount St. Joseph to claim their fifth straight Bi-District XIV Championship. Cindy Choban was selected Second Team All-American, while Michelle Williams was named an Honorable Mention All-American. The team featured three individuals who have been inducted to the Northwood Hall of Fame: Williams (Class of 2008), Choban (Class of 2017) and head coach Kevin Fegan (Class of 2019).
