An Open Letter From Dave Marsh To Northwood Student-Athletes

Dear Timberwolves,

As most of you have seen, or will soon see, the GLIAC has made the difficult decision to suspend all athletic competition until January 1.  The conference will work to put together a schedule for fall sports during the winter or spring seasons.  This is a decision made with much discussion over the summer months, with much anguish, but also with much concern over all student-athletes, coaches, and staff.  Given the landscape with COVID as well as NCAA directives, we as a conference believe it is the best decision for the health and well-being of everyone.  As painful as it has been to come to this conclusion, I fully support this decision.

We are still planning to provide you with the best athletic experience possible this fall under the circumstances.  We are currently working with your coaches and our staff so you can safely, and within Northwood and NCAA guidelines, be with your teammates for practices, workouts and other team activities.  A big part of succeeding in athletics, and in life, is adapting to challenges and responding in a positive, creative way to make the best of situations.

This year at Northwood we are posed with more challenges than most – we have not only had to deal with a global pandemic but a 500-year flood as well.  However, we will band together to persevere and find success through the adversity.  We have a great opportunity to come together as a team, as a Timberwolf family, and make a new positive out of a tough situation.

Moving forward our goal is to take steps to keep you safe, while at the same time having a positive experience and keeping you on track to your ultimate goal at Northwood – getting your degree.  The combination of that degree and your growth as student-athletes will be a great recipe for success in your life.

I look forward to seeing you soon on campus.

Go T-Wolves and Go MAD,

Dave Marsh
