Baseball Loses Pair to Saint Joseph's

The Northwood University baseball team dropped a pair of games against St. Joseph's Thursday afternoon (March 14).  The Pumas won game one 6-2 before claiming a 6-0 win in game two.

St. Joseph's is now 3-4 on the season.  Northwood stands at 4-6 overall.

Northwood got off to a good start in game one, plating single runs in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead.  Anthony Dipaolo () drove home Jake Oard (Beaverton, Mich.) with a sacrifice fly in the first, while Oard scored in the third on a double steal. But the Pumas responded with two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to break the game open. Oard finished with two of Northwood's five hits and both of their runs scored.

NU's offense was quiet in game two, registering just three singles in the contest. St. Joseph's had two runs in the third and three more in the fifth to earn the win.

Northwood will finish their spring trip with a single game against defending national champion West Chester.  First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
