Baseball Falls At Findlay 9-5

The Northwood University baseball team dropped a 9-5 contest versus Findlay Sunday afternoon (March 24).

The game took place at Tiffin University because of unplayable field conditions at both Northwood and Findlay.

Northwood got off to a good start in the game, scoring two runs in the second and the fourth inning to go up 4-0.  Eric Altman (West Bloomfield, Mich./St. Clair) and Seth Szafranski (Coldwater, Mich./Kellogg CC) had RBI hits in the second inning, while Altman and Jake Oard (Beaverton, Mich.) drove in runs in the fourth.  Findlay responded with four runs in the fifth to even the score, but Szafranski put Northwood back on top in the sixth with an RBI single.  The Oilers then earned the win thanks to two runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth.  NU's defense let the down in the contest, as four Northwood errors led to seven unearned runs

Altman and Szafranski each had two hits and two RBI's.  Zac Zoellner (Traverse City, Mich./Central) added a pair of hits and two runs scored, while Travis Smith (Clare, Mich.) had two hits and a runs scored.  Jordan Snider (Bay City, Mich./John Glenn) did not allow an earned run in five innings of work.

Northwood will travel to Saginaw Valley State Wednesday (March 27).  The single game gets under way at 2 p.m.
