Baseball Falls At Ohio Dominican 4-3

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Northwood baseball team dropped a 4-3 contest at Ohio Dominican Sunday afternoon (March 30).

The game was supposed to be played at Northwood, but poor field conditions forced the games to be moved to Ohio Dominican.

Northwood falls to 9-9 overall, 2-3 in the GLIAC. Ohio Dominican improves to 13-8 overall, 3-3 in the GLIAC.

ODU plated single runs in the first and the second innings to go up 2-0. The Timberwolves responded with a pair of runs in the third inning thanks to a two-out, two-run single by Larsen Cronkright (Midland, Mich./Kellogg CC). NU then took the lead on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Dipaolo (Northville, Mich./Divine Child) to make the score 3-2 in the fourth inning.

Ohio Dominican leveled the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning, which remained the score until the ninth inning. The Panthers got a leadoff walk, which was immediately followed by a passed ball by Northwood. NU eventually issued a pair of intentional walks in the inning to load the bases with one out. ODU earned the walk-off win on a single up the middle to end the game.

For the game, Ohio Dominican finished with a 7-5 advantage in hits. The Panther also drew eight walks in the game, compared to two for the Timberwolves.

Cronkright finished with two hits and two RBIs. Andrew Joseph (Sylvania, Ohio/Owens CC) allowed three runs on five hits in six innings of work.

Northwood and Ohio Dominican will play a doubleheader Monday (March 31). First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
