Baseball Picks Up 15-5 Win Over Rochester

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University baseball team picked up a 15-5 win against Rochester Wednesday afternoon (April 1).

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Rochester but poor field conditions forced the game to be moved to Northwood. The game was played at Northwood but the Timberwolves batted first in the game.

NU is now 12-12 overall on the season. Rochester falls to 10-8 with the loss.

Just over a week after Northwood lost 3-1 at home to Rochester, the Timberwolves wasted no time taking control of the game. NU scored six runs in the first inning on four hits and a pair of walks. The Warriors responded with three in the bottom of the inning, but NU scored two in the second, four in the third and one more in the fourth to go up 13-3. After RC plated a pair in the fifth, neither team would score until the ninth inning when NU's Daniel Pulver (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) hit a two-run homer to round out the scoring.

 For the game, Northwood out-hit Rochester 13-10. The Timberwolves also added nine walks while Rochester drew three bases on balls.

Pulver finished the game 2-3 with a home run, three RBIs, three runs scored and three walks. Travis Smith (Clare, Mich.) added three runs, two RBIs and two walks. Grant Bridgewater (Bay City, Mich./Western) had two hits and two RBIs. Dustin Lee (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) finished with two hits and three runs scored, while Dylan Trimarchi (Pasadena, Calif./Glendale CC) had three RBIs. Ian Dimitrie (Madison Heights, Mich./Lamphere) picked up the win on the mound. After allowing three runs in the first inning, he allowed no runs on one hit over the next three innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Northwood will host Hillsdale for a weekend series starting Friday (April 3). First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
