RECAP: Baseball picks up its 30th win of the season to start the final series of the regular season, defeating Grand Valley State 7-2 Friday (May 3).
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Northwood got on the board in the first inning on an Nick Palmer RBI single to put the Timberwolves up 1-0.
- GVSU responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead.
- The score remained 2-1 until the fourth when Northwood went back on top. Michael Karam leveled the score with a double.
- David Vinsky made it 3-2 with an RBI single to score Karam.
- The pitchers took control at that point, as the score remained 3-0 until the top of the ninth when the Timberwolves put the game away. Vinsky got the Timberwolves going with a solo home run that made the score 4-2.
- Later in the ninth, Palmer added a two-run shot of his own to push the lead to 6-2.
- Trevor Polewka capped the scoring with an RBI single.
