RECAP: Baseball rides big seventh inning to a 13-3 win at Wayne State to open the final series of the season Friday afternoon (May 14).

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • The game was scoreless into the fourth inning when Northwood broke through. Logan Briggs got the Timberwolves on the board with a sacrifice fly to make the score 1-0.
  • Michael Karam followed with a run-scoring double to put NU on top 2-0.
  • Wayne State responded in the bottom of the fourth with three runs, taking the lead 3-2.
  • The Timberwolves tied the score in the fifth on a Rhett Evans RBI single.
  • The key part of the game came in the top of the seventh inning. Cole Brooks registered the biggest hit of the game in the inning with a grand slam to make the score 7-3.
  • NU was just getting started in the inning, as Lawson Burnett brought home a pair on a double to get the advantage to 9-3.
  • Burnett then came home on a throwing error on a bunt that made the score 10-3.
  • Brooks finished off the big inning with another big hit with the bases loaded. His three-run double capped a 10-run seventh inning and pushed the lead to 13-3. Brooks had seven RBIs in the seventh alone.
  • The Warriors brought home a pair in the final inning to make the final 13-5.
