Baseball Earns Fourth Straight Trip To NCAA Tournament

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University baseball team has been named the sixth seed for the upcoming 2021 NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament.

This marks the fourth straight time the Timberwolves have earned a bid to the NCAA Championships. NU had never reached the event prior to this streak.

The brackets were announced Sunday night (May 23) by the NCAA. Each of the eight regions will host  tournaments, with the winners of each regional advancing to the Division II World Series June 5-12 in Cary, North Carolina.

The Midwest Regional will take place May 27-30 at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. Lindenwood was a pre-determined host by the NCAA earlier this spring. 

Northwood will face top-seeded Illinois-Springfield in the opening round at Noon (ET). The other opening round matchups are #2 Trevecca Nazaene vs. #5 Quincy (4 p.m. and #3 Davenport vs. #4 Lindenwood (8 p.m.).

Game Two: #2 Trevecca Nazarene vs. #5 Quincy, 4 p.m.

Game Three #1 Illinois-Springfield vs. #6 Northwood, Noon

Game Four: Loser of Game Three vs. Loser of Game Two, Noon

Game Five: Winner of Game Three vs. Loser of Game One, 4 p.m.

Game Six: Winner of Game Two vs. Winner of Game One, 8 p.m.

 

Saturday, May 29

Game Seven: Winner of Game Five vs. Winner of Game 6, Noon

Game Eight: Loser of Game Six vs. Winner of Game Four, 4 p.m.

Game Nine: Loser of Game Seven vs. Winner of Game Eight, 8 p.m.
