Baseball Places Three On CSC Academic All-District Team

2023 CSC Academic All-District Teams

MIDLAND, Mich. – The Northwood University baseball team placed three student-athletes on the Academic All-District team from the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

First baseman Alex Cole, starting pitcher Jayden Dentler and pitcher/outfielder Carson Longstreth were honored.

Student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and have completed one full calendar year at their respective institution.

Cole earned Third Team All-Great Midwest honors this season, currently standing with a .363 average. He sports a .503 on-base percentage, which is good for third in the G-MAC.

Dentler was named Second Team All-Great Midwest this season. He stands with a 7-2 record and a 4.18 ERA. He has 59 strikeouts in 71 innings. For his career, Dentler has a 14-4 record.

Longstreth has been a key player for Northwood both on the hill and in the field. He made 13 appearances on the mound, going 2-2 with 19 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings. Longstreth finished the year strong at the plate, batting .353 with five home runs and 13 RBIs. He was named to the G-MAC All-Tournament teams.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

The honorees will advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 6.

Northwood baseball took home both the G-MAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships this season, currently standing with a 41-17 overall record. The Timberwolves will begin play at the NCAA Regionals Thursday (May 18) with a game against Wayne State at Quincy starting at 1 p.m. (ET).
