RECAP: Thanks to a strong start from Kendall Anthes, Northwood baseball picks up its second straight win, downing Minnesota State 5-2 Monday (March 4).

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • The game remained scoreless into the fourth inning when the Timberwolves broke through. Blake Salamon two-run homer, his second home run in as many games, gave Northwood a 2-0 lead.
  • Drew Charters followed with an RBI single to plate Matt Magno to make the score 3-0.
  • Minnesota State responded in the bottom of the fourth, scoring a pair of runs after the first two batters of the inning were retired. That made the score 3-2 heading to the fifth.
  • Magno extended the lead in the top of the sixth with a two-run homer of his own to get NU's lead to 5-2.
  • That was all Kendall Anthes would need, as he held the Mavericks off the board in his final four innings of work. Jake Jekielek then recorded the final three outs to close out the victory.
