Baseball Sweeps Cedarville To Open G-MAC Play

RECAP: Northwood baseball sweeps a doubleheader to open the home play against Cedarville, taking game one 6-5 in 10 innings and game two 9-3 Friday (March 15).

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SCHEDULED FOR NINE INNINGS)

  • Both teams had numerous chances to score early on, but it was the Yellow Jackets that broke through with a run in the top of the third.
  • Northwood got on the board in bottom of the inning on an Alex Cole RBI single to tie the game 1-1 heading to the fourth.
  • Cedarville went back on top in the top of the fifth with a single run.
  • The Timberwolves tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with another Cole RBI single.
  • Northwood took their first lead of the day in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to a Ben Clark RBI double.
  • NU then extended their lead to 4-2 on a Matt Magno RBI single.
  • After Cedarville got one back in the top of the ninth, the Timberwolves were one out away from closing out the victory. But the Yellow Jackets came through with a two-out RBI single to tie the game 4-4.
  • Cedarville plated a single run in the 10th to go back on top 5-4.
  • Northwood responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning without a hit to earn the comeback win. NU took advantage of a hit batter and four walks to plate a pair to take the win.
  • The first run of the inning came home on a Logan Voth RBI fielder's choice.
  • Myles Beale capped the win with a bases-loaded walk to end the game.

  • Beale followed with another RBI groundout to put the Timberwolves on top 3-1.
  • The first hit of the inning came from Blake Salamon. His two-run home run to centerfield capped the four-run inning and made the score 5-1.
  • Northwood extended their lead in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run single by Drew Charters.
  • Clark then made the score 9-1 with a two-run single of his own.
  • Cedarville capped the scoring with two runs in the seventh to make the final 9-3.
