GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • Northwood got on the board first in the opening inning on a two-out solo home run by Matt Magno.
  • The Panthers responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first to tie the game 1-1.
  • Northwood strung together three hits in a row in the second, capped by a two-run double by Evan Wiegand to put the Timberwolves on top 3-1.
  • Kentucky Wesleyan scored one run in the third and one in the sixth to tie things up at 3-3.
  • The score remained tied until the ninth when Northwood broke through. After the first two batters were retired, the Timberwolves rallied to score three runs. The first two came home on a Ben Clark single.
  • NU then executed a double steal that brought home Clark to make the score 6-3.
  • Jake Jekielek was dominant in relief for the Timberwolves. After allowing a single to the first batter he faced, Jekielek retired the final nine batters of the game while striking out five.
