RECAP: Northwood baseball goes 1-1 to open a four-game series at Findlay, dropping game one 15-6 before taking game two 11-5 Friday afternoon (March 28).

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • Findlay got off to a fast start in game one, plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the first.
  • Northwood got on the board in the second on an Alex Cole RBI single to make the score 2-1.
  • Blake Salamon put the Timberwolves on top in a big way, connecting on an opposite field grand slam to put Northwood on top 5-2.
  • After Findlay put up one run in the bottom of the third, the Timberwolves got their lead back to three at 6-3 in the top of the fourth on an RBI single.
  • It was all Findlay the rest of the way, scoring the final 12 runs of the game. UF put up five in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in both the seventh and eighth innings to earn the win.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • Findlay opened the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the first.
  • Northwood got on the board in the second inning, starting with a run coming home on a throwing error following a single by Alex Cole.
  • Salamon then came home on a wild pitch, which was followed by a Joey Getz sacrifice fly to put the Timberwolves on top 3-1.
  • The Oilers responded right away, plating four runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead 5-3.
  • In a reversal of game one, it was all Northwood the rest of the way in game two. NU tied the score 5-5 in the third on a two-run home run by Matt Magno.
  • The Timberwovles went back on top in the top of the fourth on a Ben Clark RBI groundout.
  • The biggest hit of the game came in the top of the fifth thanks to Joey Johnston. His bases loaded triple put Northwood on top 9-5.
  • Johnston and Logan Voth each scored on wild pitches later in the fifth, capping a five-run inning to make the score 11-5.
  • Clark capped the scoring in the seventh with an RBI single that made the final 12-5.
