RECAP: Northwood baseball earns a 6-5 victory over No. 8 Ashland on Friday (April 5).

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • An RBI groundout provided Ashland with the first run of the game in the top of the first.
  • The Eagles added another run in the second inning with an RBI single to push the Ashland lead to 2-0.
  • Ben Clark started the bottom of the fourth inning with a single to the pitcher, and advanced to second on a throwing error. Matt Magno followed with a double to right center to score Clark.
  • On the following at bat, Myles Beale added a double of his own off of the wall in right field. An RBI groundout from Blake Salamon then scored Magno to tie the game at 2-2.
  • With the score evened up, Joey Johnston hit a three-run home run to right field as the Timberwolves took the 5-2 lead.
  • Ashland responded right away with three runs of their own in the top of the fifth to put the score at 5-5
  • Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh. An RBI single by Beale plated Logan Voth to put Northwood up 6-5.
  • The Timberwolves got the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth but were unable to plate a run going into the ninth inning.
  • Jake Jekielek capped off a dominant relief appearance by retiring the final three batters of the game in order to finish off the victory.
