GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (NINE INNINGS)

  • Walsh scored the opening run of the game in the bottom of the third inning to go up 1-0.
  • Northwood responded right away in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Matt Magno to bring home Ben Clark and make the score 1-1.
  • The score remained 1-1 until the seventh when the Timberwolves began to break the game open on a historic hit. Magno connected on a solo home run to right center to put the Timberwolves on top 2-1. The hit was the 277th of Magno's career, setting a new school record for hits in a career.
  • Caden Duryea expanded the Timberwolves lead in the top of the eighth with a two-run homer that made the score 4-1.
  • Northwood took control of the game in the ninth inning, starting with a sac fly by Myles Beale to push the advantage to 5-1.
  • Blake Salamon connected on a solo home run, which was followed by a two-run homer by Joey Johnston that put the Timberwolves on top 8-1.
  • Logan Voth capped the six-run ninth inning with a two-run single, making the score 10-1.

  • Ben Narr then came through with a three-run double that extended the advantage to 7-0.
  • Northwood capped the five-run third with a Voth RBI single that made the score 8-0.
  • With NU up 8-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth of a seven-inning game, it appeared the Timberwolves were on their way to a sweep. But the Cavaliers responded in the fourth, putting up eight runs to tie the game.
  • Walsh took their first lead of the day in the bottom of the sixth with a run to go up 9-8.
  • Down to their final two outs, Alex Cole connected on an opposite-field home run in the seventh to tie the score at 9-9.
  • In extra innings, Magno came through with an RBI single that put Northwood back on top 10-9.
  • Walsh came through with two runs in the bottom of the eighth to earn the comeback victory 11-10.
