RECAP: Northwood baseball sweeps a pair at Walsh Sunday (April 14) to take the weekend series, winning game one 7-2 before taking game two 13-6.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS (SEVEN INNINGS)

  • The Timberwolves took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning on a double play groundout.
  • Northwood made it 2-0 in the second on a Ben Narr RBI single.
  • Alex Cole followed with an RBI single of his own in the third that made the score 3-0.
  • Walsh got on the board in the fourth inning on a solo home run to cut the advantage to 3-1.
  • Cole put up his second RBI of the game in the fifth on a sacrifice fly.
  • Matt Magno then made the score 6-1 with a two-run double in the sixth.
  • Later in the sixth, Myles Beale singled home Magno to give the Timberwolves a 7-1 advantage.
  • Walsh scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth to make the final 7-2.

  • Northwood got going right away in game two, as Magno connected on a two-run homer to put the Timberwolves on top 2-0.
  • Walsh responded right away with a two-run home run of their own in the bottom of the first to tie the game.
  • The Timberwolves went back on top with a Magno RBI single in the top of the second.
  • Beale followed with one of the big hits of the game, a grand slam to left field that put NU on top 7-2.
  • The Cavaliers scored single runs in the fourth and the fifth to make the score 7-4.
  • Blake Salamon got the Northwood lead back to five runs with a two-run double in the top of the sixth inning.
  • NU put two more up in the seventh on a Ben Narr RBI single and a Ben Clark RBI fielder's choice that pushed the advantage to 11-4.
