Matt Magno Named G-MAC Baseball Player of the Week

G-MAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MIDLAND, MICH. – Senior catcher/designated hitter Matt Magno has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Week Monday (April 1).

Magno had a remarkable and historic week for Northwood, finishing the week with a .667 batting average with four home runs and 15 RBIs in five games. He had a .680 on-base percentage and a 1.381 slugging percentage to go along with 13 runs scored. Magno had at least two RBIs in all five games. He opened the week by going 5-5 with two home runs and five RBIs in Northwood's wild 30-17 win over Grand Valley State. Magno then had 10 hits, two home runs, nine RBIs and nine runs while leading NU to a 3-1 weekend at Walsh. Magno also broke the school record for career hits in the win against GVSU, now standing with 286 hits. Already the record holder in RBIs, Magno also reached the 200 RBI mark this weekend.

Northwood will host Wayne State Tuesday (April 16). The nine-inning game will get under way at 3 p.m.
