Baseball Ends Season With 16-4 Loss To Ashland At NCAA Regional

RECAP: Fifth-seeded Northwood baseball saw its 2024 season come to an end with a 16-4 loss to No. 4 Ashland Saturday (May 18).

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood opened the scoring in the top of the third inning on a two-run double by Joey Johnston.
  • Ashland responded with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning to tie the score.
  • NU came right back with two runs in the top of the fourth on an Alex Cole two-run single.
  • The key stretch of the game came in the inning with Northwood leading 4-2. The Timberwolves loaded the bases with nobody out but were unable to plate any runs.
  • Then in the bottom of the fifth after the opening batter was retired, Ashland responded with six runs to go up 8-4.
  • AU batted around again in the in the sixth, bringing home three runs to make the score 11-4.
  • The Eagles continued to roll on offense in the bottom of the eighth, scoring five runs to push their advantage to 12.
  • Northwood was unable to score in the ninth, giving the Eagles the victory.
