Tyler Sager Named NCBWA Division II Pitcher of the Week

NCBWA RELEASE

DALLAS – Tyler Sager, a senior pitcher on the Northwood University baseball team, has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II National Pitcher of the Week.

The announcement was made Thursday (April 17).

Sager is the first pitcher in school history to earn a national Pitcher of the Week award from the NCBWA, joining Max Bain, who won the award April 10, 2019.

Sager tossed a no-hitter in the opening game of Northwood's series against Lake Erie, leading the Timberwolves to an 11-0 victory over the Storm. He walked three while striking out seven. The Chesaning, Michigan native is the first Northwood baseball pitcher to toss a complete game no-hitter since Bain in 2019. NU's last combined no hitter was in 2021.

Northwood, who currently lead the Great Midwest Athletic Conference at 25-11 overall, 19-1 in league play, travels to Hillsdale Friday (April 18). First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
