Justin Barnes Named Defensive MVP At Ohio Vs. Michigan Senior Bowl

FINAL GAME STATS

The Northwood University football team was well represented at the 2013 Ohio vs. Michigan Senior Bowl.

The event has been going on for four years, but this year marked the first time the format was Michigan versus Ohio.

A total of six Timberwolves took part in the event: defensive lineman Justin Barnes (Midland, Mich.), corners Damion Horton (Ottawa Hills, Mich.) and Jaron DeShazor (Portage, Mich.), linebackers Spencer Remtema (Rockford, Mich.) and Ryan Whittum (Livonia, Mich./Churchill), quarterback Aaron Shavers (Detroit, Mich./ Inkster).  Shavers played wide receiver in the game.

Barnes's effort in the game was the highlight of the Northwood effort.  He finished with seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries, a sack and an interception.  For his efforts, Barnes was named the game's Defensive MVP.

DeShazor also had a strong effort in the contest, finishing with eight tackles, one interception and 1.5 tackles for loss.  Horton had three tackles and an interceptions, while Remtema and Whittum each had three tackles as well. Shavers finished with one reception for nine yards.

Team Ohio earned a 10-7 victory over Team Michigan in the contest.
