Football Falls To Ferris State 42-10

The Northwood University football team closed out the home portion of their schedule with a 42-10 loss to Ferris State Saturday afternoon (November 9).

Ferris State improves to 7-3 overall, 7-2 in the GLIAC. Northwood falls to 2-8 overall, 1-7 in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs got off to a good start, scoring the only two touchdowns of the first quarter to earn a 14-0 lead after one.  FSU then extended their lead to 21-0 when the Timberwolves got on the board.  Senior Eric Williams (Romulus, Mich./Inkster) caught a three-yard pass from Mitch Robinson (Rochester Hills, Mich./Avondale) to cap an impressive 93-yard drive and make the score 21-7.

That touchdown would be the last one of the day for Northwood, however. The Bulldogs found the end zone one more time before halftime to lead 28-7 at the break.  FSU then out-scored the Timberwolves 14-3 after halftime.  NU's only points came on a 22-yard Keegan Hagarty (Macomb, Mich./Albion College).

For the game, Ferris finished with a 492-244 edge in total yards.  The Bulldogs had 163 yards passing and 329 yards rushing overall.  Northwood totaled 164 yards passing and 80 yards rushing.

Robinson finished with 164 yards passing and a team-high 35 yards rushing.  Devonta Elzy (Chicago, Ill./Simeon) led all receivers with 100 yards on six receptions.  Michael Fisher (Rochester, Mich./Adams) led the defensive effort with 11 tackles.

Northwood will travel to Hillsdale Saturday (November 16) to close out the season.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
