Football Drops 48-14 Contest At Ohio Dominicain

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Northwood University football team dropped a 48-14 contest at Ohio Dominican Saturday afternoon (October 31).

Northwood is now 4-5 overall, 4-4 in the GLIAC. ODU improve to 6-3 overall, 5-3 in the GLIAC.

The key stretch of the game proved to be late in the first half. Ohio Dominican held a 7-0 lead with less than four minutes to go in the half, but that is when the Panthers took control. ODU scored a pair of touchdowns and connected on a field goal to make it 24-0 at the break.

The Timberwolves got on the board on their first possession of the second half. Shane Barron (Flint, Mich./Carman-Ainsworth) capped a 79-yard, six-play drive with a 14-yard touchdown run. Barron had 39 yards rushing on that drive alone, which cut the ODU lead to 24-7 with 12:53 remaining in the third quarter.

ODU responded in a big way on the following drive, scoring a TD on the next play from scrimmage to get the lead right back to 24 at 31-7.

With the score 48-7 in the fourth quarter, Northwood found the end zone for the second time on the day. Barron once again had the honors, scoring from three-yards out with 4:27 remaining in the game. That touchdown proved to be the last score of the contest.

For the game, Ohio Dominican held a 511-301 advantage in total offense. The Timberwolves finished with 196 yards rushing and 105 yards passing in the game. ODU finished with 353 yards passing and 158 yards rushing. NU had a pair of turnovers while the Panthers finished without a giveaway.

Barron had his best offensive day as a Timberwolf, finishing with 114 yards on 12 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Mike Keith (Roseville, Mich./Warren De La Salle) had 12 tackles to lead the NU defense.

Northwood will host Hillsdale for the Timberwolves' final home game of the season Saturday (November 7). Game time is set for 1 p.m.
