Football Drops 31-21 Contest At Findlay

RECAP:  Findlay ride fast start to 31-21 win over Northwood Saturday night (September 14).

INSIDE THE GAME

  • Findlay got the ball to start the game and went right down the field. The Oilers capped a 78-yard drive with a touchdown to take a 7-9 lead.
  • Later in the first quarter, Findlay went 81 yards in four plays to make the score 14-0 with 4:59 remaining in the opening frame.
  • Northwood wasted little time cutting into the UF lead, needing just 1:49 to go 70 yards. The drive was capped by a Brock Franklin 45-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-7.
  • The Oilers got rolling after the NU touchdown, however, scoring touchdowns on three consecutive drives to make the score 31-7.
  • Just before halftime, Northwood put together an impressive drive to find the endzone. NU went 91 yards in 10 plays. Jalen Lewis ran it in from two yards out to make the score 31-14 at the break.
  • Northwood scored the next touchdown as well to make it a 10-point game. Grant Dunatchik finished an 85-yard, 10-play drive with a four-yard run. That made the score 31-21 with 2:54 remaining.
  • Later in the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves appeared to score on a long Jake Vincent touchdown run, but it was called back on a holding penalty.
  • After allowing Findlay to score 31 points in the first half and rack up 343 yards of offense, the Northwood defense played well in the final 30 minutes. Findlay did not score in the second half and had a total of just 75 yards and five first downs.
