2019 Don Hansen All-America Teams

MIDLAND, MICH. – Dimitri Abro, a senior safety who recently completed his career with the Northwood University football program, has been named a Second Team All-American by the Don Hansen Football Committee.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.

Abro was one of the top defensive players in the conference this season. He led the GLIAC in tackles per game at 11.6 per game. That total was good for fifth in all of Division II. Abro had at least nine tackles in nine of 11 games and registered 15 or more stops in four times. He also added two sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss.

A four-year key contributor for the Timberwolves, Abro had 281 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions and two blocked kicks in his career.
