INSIDE THE GAME

  • The Bulldogs moved quickly on the opening drive, ending a 5-play, 57-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown rush to take the 6-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.
  • The Timberwolves responded with a 8-play, 50-yard drive to put themselves in scoring position. Max Gonos nailed a 45-yard field goal to put Northwood on the board, making the score 6-3.
  • With just under four minutes remaining in the first quarter, Ferris State found the endzone once again. A 36-yard passing touchdown extended the Bulldog lead to 12-3, as the PAT failed for the second time in the game. 
  • John Hall gave the Timberwolves a huge momentum swing, blocking the Bulldog punt and giving Northwood possession at the Ferris State 18. Ty Cox connected with Hall shortly after for a 8-yard touchdown pass, cutting into the Ferris lead and making the score 12-10.
  • Less than a minute later, the Bulldogs drove the ball 59 yards to extend their lead to 19-10.
  • Not to be outdone, Kentrell Ware received the Ferris State kickoff and returned it 100 yards to the opposite endzone in exciting fashion. Once again, the Timberwolves found themselves within two at 19-17.
  • Continuing the high scoring contest, Ferris State took the ball down the field in four plays, ending with a 39-yard touchdown rush and putting the score at 25-17 with under 11 minutes left in the half.
  • Taking advantage of a 30-yard punt return, the Bulldogs found the endzone once again, extending their lead to 32-17.
  • Ferris State continued their scoring with a 24-yard passing touchdown with over five minutes to go in the first half. This put the score at 39-17 as the Bulldogs began to take control of the game. The score remained the same going into the halftime break.
  • Five minutes into the second half, Ferris State made the score 46-17 with a 9-yard pass to find the endzone.
  • Although the Ferris State offense had been the story of the game so far, the Bulldog defense came up with an interception on the Northwood 41. A 34-yard return put Ferris State in good position, which they capitalized on just one play later to reach 53 points with over half of the third quarter remaining.
  • Northwood's special teams continued their strong play, as Jonathon Carter blocked the Bulldog field goal attempt to keep the score at 53-17.
  • The Timberwolves continued to battle, finding the endzone as Jacob Baldwin connected with Shamarr Wright. The 2-point conversion was successful, putting the score at 53-25.
  • Northwood continued the momentum with special teams once again. John Hall recovered the onside kick, giving the Timberwolves possession back at their 34-yard line. Jake Kelbert immediately found Kieft for a 37-yard pass to give Northwood some life, but the Timberwolves were unable to score on the drive.
  • With just under 10 minutes remaining in the game, Ferris State added another touchdown to make the score 60-25.
  • The Ferris State offense continued to put points on the board. With 3:19 to go in the contest, a three-yard rushing touchdown put the score at 67-25.
