INSIDE THE GAME

  • The player of the game was Wayne State's Myren Harris, who got going early. His 52-yard touchdown run gave the Warriors a 7-0 lead.
  • Harris then added a 63-yard touchdown run to push the WSU lead to 14-0 with 3:39 remaining in the first.
  • Northwood bounced back thanks to a big play on special teams. After the Warriors made it 14-0, Christian Martinez returned the following kickoff 85 yards to set NU up at the WS 11 yard line. Three plays later, Brock Franklin found the end zone on a three-yard run to make the score 14-7.
  • Wayne State controlled the majority of the second quarter, scoring three straight touchdowns. The last of the three TDs was another long run by Harris. His 77-yard run made the score 35-7.
  • Northwood found the endzone one more time late in the half. NU went 60 yards in 11 plays over 5:33. The drive was capped by a Cashual Goldsmith seven-yard run, which sent the game to the break with the score 35-14.
  • The Warriors big-play offense ended the opening half with 378 yards – 232 rushing and 146 passing.
  • Northwood had a solid half on offense, finishing with 188 total yards (123 rushing, 65 passing).
  • Wayne State added two more touchdowns in the third quarter, including the fourth of the game for Harris, to send the game to the fourth with the Warriors leading 49-14. Harris ended the game with a Wayne State-record 327 yards rushing.
  • Northwood scored its third touchdown of the night early in the fourth quarter. NU went 82 yards in 19 plays, in 8:30. The drive was capped by a Ty Cox five-yard touchdown pass to Noah Koenigsknecht to make the score 49-21 with 11:24 remaining.
  • WSU rounded out the scoring with a 9:32 drive, finding the endzone with 1:52 left in the game to make the final 56-21.
