INSIDE THE GAME

  • After Hillsdale got a stop on defense to start the game, the Chargers drove 77-yards on 13 plays. The 6:27 drive was capped with a touchdown to put HC up 7-0.
  • Northwood responded late in the first. NU got a stop on fourth and one at the Hillsdale 32, setting the Timberwolves up with a short field. Cashual Goldsmith capped the four-play drive with a 19-yard touchdown run to make the score 7-7.
  • Hillsdale found the endzone at the 7:03 mark of the second to go back on top 14-7.
  • A key stretch of the game came late in the second quarter. Northwood had a 14-play drive going and reached the Hillsdale red zone, but an interception off a deflection ended the drive. The Chargers then took the ball and connected on a field goal in the final moments of the half to send the game to the break with the score 17-7.
  • Northwood made it a one-possession game around the midway mark of the third. The Timberwolves went 79-yards in seven plays, capped by a Max Gonos 21-yard field goal. That made the Hillsdale advantage 17-10.
  • Hillsdale wasted no time in responded, scoring on a 65-yard touchdown run to get their lead back to 24-10.
  • NU fumbled on their next possession, giving the ball to the Chargers on the Northwood 31. But the Timberwolves defense stepped up on fourth and goal from the one, giving the ball back to the Timberwolves on the Hillsdale one.
  • The Chargers responded, however, tacking Northwood in the endzone for a safety, pushing the Hillsdale lead to 26-10.
  • HC took advantage of a short field to extend their lead in the fourth. The Chargers went 23-yards to go up 33-10.
  • Northwood made it a two-possession game with 2:19 remaining. Case Boos caught a 16-yard pass from Jacob Barlage to finish a 79-yard drive. Barlage then found Andy Durand to convert the two-point conversion to make the score 33-18.
  • Hillsdale finished the game with a touchdown with 40 seconds remaining to make the final 40-18.
