MIDLAND, MICH. – Redshirt freshman Brandon Martin from the Northwood University football team has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Special Teams Athlete of the Week Monday (October 30).

This marks the fourth time this season Northwood has earned an Athlete of the Week, joining Stephen Douglas (Defense – September 18), Jacob Barlage (Offense – September 25) and Brandon Ross (Defense – October 9)

Martin led the way for a big night for Northwood special teams, averaging 55.0 yards over three returns in the Timberwolves' 28-13 road win over Kentucky Wesleyan. His biggest play of the night came late in the third quarter right after the Panthers had cut the Northwood lead to 21-13. Martin returned the following kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. He also started the second half with a 50-yard kickoff return, which also set the Timberwolves up for a touchdown. In all, Northwood special teams had two kickoff returns over 50 yards, a punt return for 40 yards and a fake punt that went for a 47-yard touchdown run in the game.

Northwood will its home finale Saturday (November 4), taking on Thomas More. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
