Deonte Higgins Named G-MAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week
MIDLAND, MICH. – Junior Deonte Higgins from the Northwood University football team has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Special Teams Athlete of the Week Monday (November 6).
This marks the sixth time this season Northwood has earned an Athlete of the Week, joining Stephen Douglas (Defense – September 18), Jacob Barlage (Offense – September 25), Brandon Ross (Defense – October 9), Brandon Martin (Special Teams – October 30) and Mbaimba Tunkara (Defense – November 6).
Higgins returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in Northwood's 31-24 win over Walsh. Both of his returns covered 95 yards. He finished the game averaging 66.0 yards per return.
Northwood finished the season with a 31-24 win over Walsh, giving the Timberwolves a three-game winning streak to finish the year.
